Cozy Winter Home Decor

The holidays are over and we’re entering into the heart of the winter season. January can be a very cold and depressing time of year, but when I walk into my home I want to feel warm and relaxed. I don’t know about you, but I spend more time in my home over the winter months than I do any other time of the year, so changing up a few things that can make it more inviting and cozy is what gets me through the cold weather months!

My favorite way to add a cozy element to my home is with lots of blankets. Super soft and warm faux fur blankets are my favorites and they can be found everywhere from my couch to my bed and even draped over my office chair.

My ultimate relaxing living room would incorporate fluffy floor pillows, cozy blankets, candles and flowers. Soft lighting and lots of pillows set the mood for the perfect winter evening in.

A creative way to transform your living space from summer to winter is by layering rugs! Your large low pill area rug is great for all year round, but by adding a small soft rug over the one you have it will instantly elevate the look and achieve that cozy look you want.

As for your bedroom the best way to make it more cozy is with extra blankets and pillows and by eliminating overhead lights. Invest in a fluffy down comforter and fold your other blankets and keep them near the foot of your bed. In my mind there’s no such thing as too many pillows and I like to pile my bed with regular pillows, body pillows and accent pillows.

Canopies and special lighting are great ways to add special touches to your bedroom. I don’t know what could be more cozy than curling up in bed surrounded by twinkling lights or soft flowing fabric!
