I’m sure you know by now that Ultra Violet was named the Pantone Color of the Year for 2018 and you better believe that I’m incorporating it into every aspect of my life and the blog. Ultra violet communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future. It’s inventive and imaginative and it lights the way to what is yet to come. If you’re a creative person like I am then I highly suggest you let it inspire you like I’m letting it inspire me.
Purple is one of my favorite colors so I was pretty excited about being the color of the year solely because I was excited about incorporating it into my January posts (I got even more excited once I did a little research on the meaning behind the color choice). First up, of course, is makeup…and instead of doing just one ultra violet makeup look, I decided to share 2 ways to add ultra violet to your makeup routine. No matter what your makeup style is I guarantee you’ll be inspired by one of these ultra violet makeup looks.
First up, Ultra Violet Lipstick! Instead of just wearing one shade of purple lipstick I layered 2 colors on top of one another for a fun ombre, matte to ultra glossy lip look!
- Prime face with Maybelline FaceStudio Master Prime Blue + Illuminate (c/o). Prime under eye with Maybelline FaceStudio Master Camo Color Correcting Pen (c/o). Apply Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick with e.l.f.’s Foundation Blurring Brush. Conceal under eye circles with Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer.
- Prep lids with Ulta Matte Eye Primer (c/o). Apply shade 3 from e.l.f. cosmetics Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette to lid. Apply shade 9 from same palette in crease and blend. Line upper lashes with Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner.
- Curl eyelashes and apply 2 coats of Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara (c/o) to upper and lower lashes. Apply The Vintage Cosmetics Company Lashes in Betty (c/o). Line over lashes just to hide the lash band with e.l.f. Expert Liquid Liner.
- Set under eye concealer with e.l.f. Perfect Finish HD Powder (c/o). Apply bronze shade from Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak (c/o) to hollows of cheeks and around hair line. Apply blush shade from same palette to apples of cheeks and blend.Highlight cheekbones, nose, under brows and inner corners of eyes with highlighter from same palette.
- Groom brows with Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil (c/o).
- Apply Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in Double Crossed to outer edge of lips. Apply e.l.f. cosmetics Lip Lacquer in Purple (c/o) to center of lips and blend together.
My second ultra violet makeup look is all about the this iridescent ultra violet eye! Super simple and easy to create, but still statement making!
