I’ve had my trusty Canon G10 for about 4 years now & I think its time to trade up to a DSLR; problem is…I have NO idea which one to get!!!!! I definitely plan on still keeping my G10 for personal use because the landscape & scenery photos it takes are BEAUTIFUL, but I need to step up my game when photographing for my blog!
I’m partial to Canons & Nikons just because I’ve had them in the past and I love the picture quality, but other than that I’m LOST!!!
I need your help…

I have the Nikon D3000 and I love it. My pictures come amazing and its easy to use. Hubby has a Canon D10 that we use, when I don't want to carry around my DSLR, which start to weigh.
Also, once you get your DSLR and have no clue how to use it, like I was, go to the blog Kevin & Amanda (http://www.kevinandamanda.com/) they have an amazing tutorial on using DSLR camera. If you do know how to use one, then omit that last part 🙂

all i can tell is that i went with the nikon 1 because all of the other options stressed me out. So far I love it! and I've been told by a man holding a much larger camera than me that for outfit posts and close ups it will be more than adequate. hope that helps 🙂

I use my boyfriends Nikon D 80, It's pretty easy to learn on, and you could prpbably get a used one for around $400-500… not bad. However… You need more than just a good camera to get the pics you want.. I learned that it all comes back to the lens…. ask for a lens with adjustable aperture… (I only kind of know what I'm talkng about- but the difference between this and
this was the lens, thats it.)
take in a few shots from blogs you like to a camera store, tell them what you like about the pictures and what you need from your camera… that's what I did and got this amazing lens which has made a huge difference. Good luck!!!
I use the Nikon Coolpix P510 and love it! It wasn't hard to learn how to use and still takes great photos. A photographer friend recommended it to me.

It depends on your budget and how much control you want over your photos (and videos). I'm a professional photographer and while the 1D for Canon and the new D4 from Nikon are pro staples, the advancements with lower level bodies make them more than competitive.
I'm more experienced with Canon so my recommendations would be either the 5D or the 7D. The 5D has a full frame sensor versus the cropped frame on the 7D. This means that both cameras with the same lens setup, the 5D will have a wider image, shallower depth of field, and perform better in low light. That being said, the 7D is more than solid and at about $1k cheaper in price, you can't go wrong with it.
So if you want a recommendation that doesn't break the bank, I'd say go with a Canon 7D and get a Canon 16-35mm 2.8L lens as your starter. That's an industry standard wide lens that has a bit of zoom but would be a perfect setup for "blog" photography and video.
i have a canon rebel xs, and love it. it is the basic model, but a great starter camera. i've seen higher models like the T3 on sale for 499, plus another 199 for a zoom lens. great started package. it's the same deal i got for mine a couple years ago. check target around this time!

I have the 50D Canon,and it is a super camera with lots of asserioes. It is easy to learn,and you can use in fully automatic mode or manual. Want something a little cheaper go with Canon T2I,T3I. Get a lens that is like a 35mm to 135mm for all around purpose. You can add a 55mm lens cheap to have not a big lens. The lower the F Stop the more the cost. 3.5 to 4.5 will be cheaper,but if you want to shoot inside without flash go to a 24 to 28mm with a F Stop of 2.4 or 2.8 to give you more light.
