If you’re a fashion buff I’m sure you’ve read numerous articles about “2016 Style Trends” and I while I love to indulge in all things trendy fashion the 2016 Home Decor Trends get me so much more excited! I don’t go making changes to my home after reading about new decorating trends, instead I file them away. At the end of the year I look back at all the clients I worked with to see if the trends really fit into the real world and what people really liked.
Here are the trends I’m expecting to be huge in 2016 and how they can work in your home.
Relaxing Atmospheres! In the past few years people have been creating more relaxed atmospheres in their home as opposed to formal settings and 2016 is no exception. Making your home a more lived in, inviting and enjoyable place to be with open floor plans and multi use rooms is exactly the type of living space people want.
Neutral Wall Colors. Bright, bold colors won’t be going away, but I think instead of them appearing on our walls we’ll see a lot more colored furniture paired with neutral paint. One of the best neutral paint colors is Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb Gray seen below.
Pattern is in. Bold colorful patterned fabric is exactly what you’re home is missing. And don’t be afraid to layer multiple prints for a fun look. This might seem extreme, but start small…maybe a great printed rug and complimentary (not matching) accent chair to go with your neutral living room couch.
Metal Mixing. There is no rule that says you must use only one metal in a room. Bronze, gold, pewter, silver…there are so many great metallic pieces of furniture on the market now that you can’t possibly limit yourself to just one.
Go green! This phrase can be interpreted in many many ways. Below you can see how green plants can play an important part in your home decor, but you have to check back and see the other ways you can make your home “green” this year.
Do you agree with our 2016 Home Decor Trend predictions? Over the next few months we’ll be tackling each of these decor trends a little more in depth so make sure to check back in for all the details and inspiration you need! What do your think will be popular this year in world of interior decorating?
