In terms of temperature, blue is a cool color. It can be a very serene color to add to a room. The same way the ocean relaxes someone, blue color can create a calm atmosphere to a room of your home.
I love the look of earthy or sandy color paired with a soft blue. One of my favorite soft blue wall colors to use is Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore.
Spa like feeling…
Adding a royal blue can give more of a traditional feel to a room. This powder room has an elegant look accomplished by using Graham & Brown Wallpaper, drapes made from Robert Allen fabric & a surprising touch of yellow color (Benjamin Moore Sulfur Yellow) on the ceiling.

With the right tone of blue it can work really well in a more contemporary atmosphere.
This room has touches of teal that can easily be changed out.
Orange & blue a favorite color combo!
Color is very important in a room, whether you introduce a little or a lot make it your own.
