I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty apparent that Fall is my favorite season and Fall fashion is a huge part of that! Also, I think it’s a mix of the nostalgia of “back to school” shopping (even though I’ve been out of school for over 10 years), the temperature drop, the leaves changing and pumpkin everything, but I just absolutely love all things Fall, especially the clothes.
I literally get excited about changing out my Summer and Fall clothes in my closet and “rediscovering” some of my pieces I already own. And I get even more excited about shopping for new fall fashion trends and incorporating them into my wardrobe!
Shopping in-store for Fall fashion just hits different (again I swear it has to do with nostalgia of back to school shopping) and this year I spent the day shopping all my favorite stores at The SoNo Collection to see what trends of the season I’m loving the most!
My Favorite Fall Fashion Trends at The SoNo Collection
Shirt Jackets
If you guys remember I finally succumbed to the shirt jacket trend last year and honesty I haven’t looked back! Shirt jackets, or “shackets” as I like to call them, are the perfect year-round transitional layering piece and you can wear them with pretty much anything.
For Fall 2022, the stores in The SoNo Collection were FILLED with all different style shirt jackets, literally every single store I shopped in carried them. Some shorter, some longer, some oversized, some more form fitting…there was truly something for everyone. One similarity between all of them though was that they were PLAID! And not just your average plaid, all different variations and colors!
I couldn’t leave without this oversized burgundy, tan & brown one from H&M! I guarantee I’ll be wearing this non stop over the next few months.
Corduroy
As Vogue predicted, the 1970s are making a comeback, think curtain bangs, funky prints, warm colors, etc., and with that comes the resurgence of corduroy! I’ve read a couple different articles that say cords are back because corduroy is such a durable fabric and therefore tons of vintage corduroy pieces can be found in great condition in thrift stores, but also tons of stores are now carrying it too!
I’m partial to a long wide leg cord, like the chocolate brown pair from H&M I’m wearing here, but I’m also loving all the corduroy skirts (mini & midi) that I’m seeing plus all the coats! Everything I’m seeing inherently gives off that retro vibe, but there are plenty of ways to style the pieces to make them chic and modern too.
Ribbed Form Fitting Tops
As you probably have gathered by reading this post, wider silhouettes on the bottom are trending for Fall so it’s only natural that more form fitting tops are trending at the same time! Abercrombie, H&M, Hollister and American Eagle have a variety of tighter fitting tops that I’m loving for Fall (but can also be worn throughout the year).
When you’re shopping look for unique necklines! I loved the twist on the sweetheart neckline in this black top, it was so flattering and comfortable. And I loved the high neck and color of the body suit on the right!
Wide Leg Denim
The fashion gods have been telling us for a while that skinny jeans are out and every season the denim keeps getting wider and looser and while I’m completely against getting rid of any slim pairs of jeans in your closet (if you love them like I do), but I am for adding a pair of wide leg denim to your wardrobe for Fall 2022.
The SoNo Collection has so many stores that offer a variety of wide leg denim at multiple price points! Bloomingdales and Nordstrom are great if you’re completely committed to the look and want to spend a little more, but Abercrombie & Hollister have more affordable options that are great if you’re still making sure that this trend is for you. I also love how inclusive both Abercrombie & Hollister have become and the large range of sizes they carry in store!
Luxe Accessories
While minimalist accessories and jewelry aren’t going anywhere, luxe accessories and lots of layering are making a comeback and are definitely one of my favorite fall fashion trends! And these luxe accessories aren’t just for special occasions they’re for everyday!
I would say out of all these the pieces the trendiest has got to to be fur accessories. The fur bag with chunky gold chain strap that found at H&M is definitely one of my favorite things I’ve found shopping at The SoNo Collection and one of my favorite fall fashion trends of 2022! It’s out of the box and different, but at the same time neutral and so incredibly wearable for Fall and into Winter.
