Everyone has that friend or family member that they love, but then they do something to piss you off and you don’t particularly like them for a period of time. That’s kinda how I feel about my body. I love my body, but I don’t always like it. I wouldn’t call it a love/hate relationship, but like most people, there are some days I feel way more confident in my own skin than other days. Sometimes it depends on what I’m wearing, sometimes it depends on what I ate and sometimes there’s just no reasoning for it at all.
When I was younger I was always on the heavier side and in my teens my body went through a lot of changes. I was a victim of the Freshman 15 in college then when I found out I was lactose intolerant at 21 I lost about 30 pounds. Now today I’m 29 and have fully embraced my size 8ish extremely pear shaped body.
I love my collarbone and narrow shoulders and big mouth, and I dislike my cellulite and dancer’s calves (that don’t fit into any boots) and the fat between my bra and my arm pit, but you know what…I’m okay with it. I think the reason why I fell in love with fashion and beauty is because I can highlight the parts of my body that I’m confident in and disguise the parts I’m not so happy with.
I definitely don’t have the body of most style bloggers, but I definitely think I have a similar body to most women. I really never ever thought I would broach the “body image” topic on the blog, but when Swimsuits For All reached out about collaborating I figured it why not! This blog has always been about putting together head to toe looks that work best for you and make you feel good no matter what your size or your body insecurities are.
Finding a bathing suit that I actually like and feel good in is RARE, so you could only imagine how I felt when I put on this one piece suit and loved the way I looked in it and how it made me feel. I love how the halter top and lace up key hole accentuates my collarbone and shoulders. I love how the slimming the print is. I love how it laces up on the bottom so the suit doesn’t dig into my butt (a HUGE issue I have with most suits). And what I love most about it is that I love how I look and feel so much in it that it makes me forget about all the things I may not like about my body!
I love how Swimsuits For All shows a variety of models of different sizes on their site, plus allows customers to upload their own photos so you can really see how each suit looks on different body types. I read through TONS of reviews before deciding which suits to get and I’m so glad I took the time to because I couldn’t be happier with what I got! One suggestion I will give you before ordering is that you definitely want to look at the size chart for each individual suit. In clothing I normally wear a size 8, but I actually ended up ordering a size 12 in this bathing suit (and the other one piece I got) because that’s what my measurements suggested and they fit perfectly! I’m super impressed with the quality of all of the swimsuits and coverups I received and I’ve already gotten so many compliments on them. Shop everything I picked up right here:
I’m here to tell you it’s okay to not always like your body because if you’re consistently doing things to make yourself feel good and happy then who cares! Personally I know I feel great when I work out 4-5 days a week (doing exercise I actually enjoy like dance, Pure Barre and Orangetheory), get 7-8 hours of sleep every night and get to spend time with my friends and family (seems dumb, but it actually makes my overall mood better). When I’m working towards a better self and making myself feel good, ignoring the flaws and loving my body comes easy!

Thank you for putting my feeling into such a simple sentence: I love my body, but I don’t always like it. And that’s totally fine.
And can I just remark how great your pictures & you are? 🙂
