Jelly Neon Star Nails
Can you believe I’ve never used jelly nail polish before? I’ve literally done hundreds of gel manicures over the years, but this is the first time I’m using this pretty popular type of polish on my nails!
Jelly nail polish is a type of semi-transparent, glossy nail polish that is eye-catching as super trendy at the moment! You can control the opaqueness with the amount of coats you use and when layered with metallic silver stars like we did in these jelly neon star nails they can create a really cool and different look for Summer!
We chose a bunch of different neon jelly nail polishes because we wanted the stars on each nail to show up as different colors! We achieved this specific nail art design by painting each nail with 2 coats of jelly polish, then applied silver metallic star stickers, then finishing up with one coat of jelly polish over the star decals. Since the jelly polish is transparent the silver stars turn the color of polish painted over it for a shiny silver star design on each nail.
The one disadvantage of jelly polish is that it does fade as your manicure gets older. I typically get my nails done every 4-5 weeks and by week 4 the polish was significantly less neon and bright than it was when I first got them painted. It didn’t bother me, but it is something I think is important to mention if you’re getting a jelly polish manicure for the first time (especially with neon colors).
This playful, glossy and semi-transparent nail trend is an easy way to add an element of fun and creativity to your manicure.
