I can’t believe that Christmas is over! All the preparation and time and just like that it’s over. I didn’t have much shopping to do this year because I did Secret Santa with my immediate family, so getting in the Christmas spirit was a little difficult especially considering it’s been 60 something degrees, but going to my mom’s can get anyone in the spirit! She is the queen of Holiday decorations and I’m not even going to embarrass myself and show you a picture of my because her decor puts me to shame.
This is the second year my family has taken a trip during the Holidays. Last year we spent Christmas in Salisbury, CT (and I flew to Paris and London right after), but this year we spent Christmas at home and left for a week vacation the day after! We rented a house in up upstate Connecticut, right on the Massachusetts border, and we’re here until just after New Years. I love that it extends the Holiday season and gives us all a chance to spend time together playing games, watching tv and just relaxing. This insane weather we’ve been having hasn’t allowed the mountains to open for skiing yet, but we’re here for a few more days so we’re crossing our fingers that it’ll get cold enough for the snow guns start making snow!
If you’re ever in the Great Barrington area the first place you need to go (after you go skiing) is for gourmet sourdough pizza at Baba Louie’s. I’m not going to tell you what you need to order because I don’t think it’s possible to order anything bad! They only use the freshest veggies, fruits, cheeses and meats and the combinations are amazing!
One place we stumbled upon this trip is Home Sweet Home Doughnut Shoppe! It’s in Great Barrington also and 100% worth the calories! They don’t have anything crazy, but they taste about 1833920 times better than any doughnut I ever had! I’ve tasted doughnuts from just about every single famous doughnut shop in NY and this are hands down my favorite!
Until next month…
