If you haven’t noticed there has been a serious lack of makeup posts because I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my skin. I always get sun spots on my face during the summer, but this year those are the least of my worries because for the first time in my entire life I’m breaking out with the worst acne. Don’t get me wrong I get a pimple here and there like everyone else, but I’ve never struggled with acne before. My chin looked terrible it was covered with tiny bumps, white heads and larger red pimples, and I had NO idea how to handle it. Initially I didn’t change my skincare routine and just used my normal spot treatment hoping my skin would eventually clear up, but after a few weeks with no change I knew I needed to make a change!
When Neutrogena and Walgreens asked me to participate in their #LetsSolveIt campaign I immediately agreed hoping this change was exactly what my skin needed. I started by taking the Solve My Acne Quiz which showed me exactly what products were best to treat my skin troubles. After completing the short quiz and picking up the 4 recommended products I was ready to start my new skincare routine!
Since I wear makeup daily, my first step to clear skin is Neutrogena’s Oil Free Cleansing Wipes. I keep one package of these in my purse and one at home. They are great on the go if I quickly want to take off my makeup before working out and they’re great at home for getting off my waterproof makeup before washing my face.
Next up is Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. Initially I was using this both morning and night, but after about a week I noticed my skin was becoming extremely dry so I decreased use to only once a day. I love how this cleanser makes my skin feel so clean.
To treat my acne, Neutrogena’s On the Spot Acne Treatment was suggested. I think this cream treatment is what truly got rid of my acne. It works like magic without over drying or irritating my sensitive skin. I use this twice a day after cleansing my skin on any pimples or trouble areas on my face.
And finally the last product suggested was Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer. To avoid irritating my skin I only use this once a day after cleansing my face and applying spot treatment in the morning. I really appreciated how light the formula of this moisturizer is.
The verdict…after 2 weeks of following this simple skincare routine I’ve seen a huge improvement in my skin and a drastic decrease in the troublesome acne that was covering my chin. I’m definitely going to keep these acne products in my skincare routine to not only treat the pimples I currently have, but to also prevent future breakouts.
I’d love to know what your clear skincare routine is like! Leave me a comment with your favorite products!
