I’m about to drop a truth bomb right now…I absolutely hate lip gloss. It’s sticky, it gets everywhere and everything gets stuck to it…now here’s the problem…I may hate lip gloss, but I LOVE the look of gloss lips! Until now I was pretty much just sucking it up when I wanted glossy lips, but now thanks to lip oils I don’t have to! Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil is a non-sticky (insert hand praise emoji), gel like oil that comforts and nourishes lips for the perfect glossy look! And today I’m here to give you not 1, not 2, but 3 reasons you should replace your lip gloss with lip oil!
First up, you can apply them before lipstick for a smooth application! This was great for me because I have very dry lips and it really prepped them so that my lipstick went on super smooth. I went with Clarins Lip Oil in Honey Glam, which has a subtle shimmer, and topped it off with a nude lipstick. I love how the shimmer really shined through the lipstick, but didn’t look overly shimmery.
Another way you can wear these lip oils is on their own! I chose the shade, Candy, for this because it actually has a unique formula that reacts to the pH of your lips, so it created the perfect color pink for me! On it’s own here you can really see just how shiny this oil is. And can we talk about the applicator…you can see a peek of it in the first photo of this series…it is so soft and velvety and glides on so smooth. I feel like the applicator of a lip product is almost as important as the product itself and this is a good one!
And last and my personal favorite way to wear Clarins lip oils…over lipstick for a glossy effect! I went all out with this one and matched my orange eye makeup (which I’m completely obsessed with) to this super bold orange lipstick and topped it off with Clarins Lip Oil in Honey Glam for an extra shimmery and shiny look. While this look may be bold, I actually wore it out during the day and got SO many compliments!
So have I convince you to replace you lip gloss with lip oil?

Do you put this over tube lipstick or liquid lipstick? I much prefer liquid to tube, but hate how much it dries out my lips and would ADORE this look over some of my bold colors! Let me know if you’ve tried that and if it works!

I actually haven’t tried it over liquid lipstick before, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work just fine! These lip oils are seriously amazing!
