This Summer I became a huge fan of the kimono and now that we’re finally seeing a little bit of Fall weather, I’m making this new wardrobe staple work for this season. Honestly I never thought of kimonos as anything other than swimsuit cover ups and could never actually find one that I liked (I hate where they’re too short and don’t cover your butt…I mean it’s not really a “cover-up” if it’s not covering anything). But since they rose in popularity this year they were popping up every where, at all price points and in ALL different styles. Sheer ones, vibrant color ones, floral ones, lace ones…you name it.
I fell in love with this long vintage floral kimono in July and haven’t stopped wearing it since! It’s pretty much the ultimate warm weather Fall accessory, it’s so versatile and works as a perfect layering piece to any casual outfit. We all know how much I hate wearing short (see here), and this kimono made me feel WAY more comfortable and confident wearing them this Summer.
Since we haven’t quite had a “Fall” yet in New York, this kimono has given me a chance to layer without getting too over heated! Since I’ve gotten so much wear out of this one is the short time that I’ve had it I’m looking to add another to my closet. I’m thinking a darker print (maybe something with velvet) for the Winter months, so I’ve rounded up a few that I’ve been eyeing! Which one is your favorite?
