Megan and I are not above wearing things that we like that are technically “out of style.” We both pretty much live by the “wear whatever you want” motto. However, we do love our trendy items. We’ll be the first to text each other articles about trend forecasts, links to items in our shopping carts and we are two of the few fashion bloggers who actually get excited about Fashion Month to see the trends the designers send down the runway (not that we’re able to afford most of it, we still love to be inspired by it).
What’s Old is New Again! These Trends are BACK!
I’ve been talking about Winter trends and 2018 trends in general a lot and one of the things I noticed was that one of the most common sayings when it comes to trends is “what’s old is new again” because it seems like there’s NOTHING actually “new”. Slouchy boots, vintage florals, culottes, statement earrings, oversized turtlenecks…been there, done that…BUT I’m totally okay with it.
One of our favorite trends that made a comeback this winter revolved around hats. I’m no stranger to a good hat (no joke my family, specifically my grandpa, used to buy me all these ridiculous hats when I was a baby), so when I saw that berets, baker boy hats and baseball caps on the runway I was a happy girl! Winter in New York is no joke so whenever a cold weather accessory becomes trendy again I’m all in.
Funny thing is that this beret is literally the epitome of “what’s old is new again” because it’s literally about 20 years old. I’ve had it forever (probably since the last time berets were “cool”) and I just could never part with it because I love it, and guess what it’s back and I’ve been wearing it more than ever (see here, here, here)! Want to know what’s even funnier that the fact that my hat is basically vintage…my coat is even older! It’s my mom’s from the 80s or 90s and it’s literally perfect! I borrowed it from her closet and I’m not sure I’m giving it back!
Moral of the story, don’t ever throw anything away…kidding…(but not really).
