How to Decorate with Jewel Tones

If you asked me what my favorite color was I probably wouldn’t be able to give you an answer. But if you asked me what my favorite group of colors (I know…no one would ever ask that) was, it would definitely be jewel tones! From emerald to fuchsia to turquoise to ruby red, these colors are striking, but warm, and I have yet to find someone that doesn’t love them.

Jewel tones are the color palette anyone can wear (if and when I ever get married my bridesmaids will be wearing either one or multiple jewel tones) and they’re absolutely the color palette everyone should have in their home. If you’re unsure as to how to decorate with jewel tones, this post should clear all that up. Whether you’re just interested in adding a pop of one of these rich hues, paint a room in a vibrant shade or mix and match with multiple colors I’ve got your covered.

Adding one punch of vibrant color to an otherwise neutral room is a great way to incorporate jewel tones into your home. I tried to pick rooms that showcased all types of neutrals so you could see that no matter what your current home looks like it’s very easy to add a bit of color. The room above is very modern and decorated with mostly shades of brown and this marine color on the walls fits perfectly. Below you see a mostly black and white room with a lush velvet kelly green sofa. And one of my favorite below that is a crisp, clean white kitchen with a vibrant multi colored jewel tone runner. Just goes to show you that no matter what your decorating style is, there are absolutely ways to decorate with jewel tones in your current home.

Are you interested in adding more than one jewel tone? Here’s what you should know! I suggest pairing complementary colors together (colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel) or sticking with shades in the same color family. Of course you can ultimately do whatever you’d like, but these color pairing are fool proof and will always work! Scroll through the next few photos to see how layering jewel tones, whether it be through furniture, paint colors, curtains, fabric or rugs, works in pretty much any situation!
