Did you know that green is the color of growth, it’s full of balance and harmony, it’s relaxing and is said to have healing powers among many other things. Since the month of March is often associated with the color green because of St. Patrick’s Day I thought it would be fun to do a little research and find out more about this color. In all honesty, green was never a color I gravitated towards in the past. I don’t know if it’s because green was one of my high school colors and once I graduated I rid my wardrobe of all my “school spirit” items or what, but for some odd reason with me being such a colorful person, my wardrobe was pretty much absent of this color. Olive is one of my favorite colors, but a cheery bright green or an emerald like this vintage coat has been missing from my wardrobe until now.
But back to the meaning behind the color green. Like I mentioned above, green is foremost the color of growth and health. It evokes a feeling of safety, harmony balance and has a strong association as a refreshing and peaceful color. I pay a lot of attention to the meaning behind certain colors when it comes to decorating my home (check out a few posts here, here, here), but I never put much thought into dressing in a certain color for a particular reason. Given that green is the color of nature and renewal and freshness it’s very appropriate for one of my first “Spring” posts, even when it doesn’t feel too much like Spring outside!
Talking about color theories in fashion was a little out of my comfort zone, but it’s definitely something that has peaked my interest after writing this post! Is this something you’d be interested in learning more about? Leave me a comment on here or on my Instagram and let me know!
