Fall may be my favorite season and I may have literally 10 Pinterest boards filled with Fall outfit ideas and about 100 photos saved on Instagram with my favorite Fall outfits to copy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find myself staring at my closet complaining that I have “nothing to wear” a few times a week!
On the first few cool days I’m SO excited to wear all my favorite fall pieces in my wardrobe. And then when the temperatures significantly drop I literally have to remind myself that I can’t wear leggings and a sweatshirt to work (not everyday at least!)
So today I rounded up a bunch of easy fall outfits to recreate not only to benefit all of you, but because sometimes I need a little help and inspiration to get dressed in the morning!
And it’s funny, as I was putting together this blog post it made me realize that I definitely have a few go-to combinations when it comes to Fall fashion. And while I may not post the exact same outfit too often, I definitely have a few outfit formulas that I tend to repeat again and again!
Easy Fall Outfits
The first thing you need to ask yourself before reading this post is…
Do I have a fall wardrobe filled with items that I love?
Do you currently own wardrobe staples like a great white tee, leather jacket (faux or real), black jeans, oversized blazer, etc? If the answer is no, I’d start by checking out my Fall Capsule Wardrobe to gauge what items are missing from your wardrobe first. If the answer is “yes”, continue scrolling for a plethora of cute outfit inspiration!
Relaxed Mom Jeans + Sneakers + Long Coat
The easy Fall outfit combination of mom jeans, sneakers and a long coat is what I like to call my cool weather uniform. From Fall to early Spring this is absolutely the look you can catch me in the most often. Everyone has one whether they like to admit it or not. And some people aren’t even aware that they have a “uniform” per se.
Relaxed mom jeans have basically taken over my closet. And I’m not ashamed to have thrown my Millennial card in the trash for this Gen Z trend. While I haven’t completely rid my closet of skinny jeans (they’re truly a timeless piece), I tend to grab my mom jeans 9 times out of 10.
If you’re struggling to find the perfect relaxed jeans check out my Best Mom Jeans for Pear Shaped Bodies Guide!
I have 3 go-to pairs of sneakers – Vans, Converse & Adidas – I actually have an entire post about the 3 pairs of sneakers every girl needs. And I don’t plan on straying from my favorites anytime soon! Your favorite sneakers may be different than mine, but as long as their chic and timeless they’ll do!
And as far as long coats I used to buy a new coat every year and my favorite sites to buy coats from are Club Monaco, Zara, J.Crew and more, but now I rent all of mine from nuuly. I love the idea of getting a new coat every month, why buy when you can rent!
Midi Dress + Boots
Midi dresses are my go-to for Fall and frankly for every other holiday too. But there’s just something about mid-length dresses in the Fall and knee-high, over-the-knee or ankle boots! It’s literally an instant look without even trying and I’m here for it!
If you couldn’t tell by these photos I gravitate towards prints in the Fall (and every other season let’s be serious). But some of favorites this time of year are paisley, moody floral print and leopard.
This outfit combination is perfect for work, a date, girls night out…literally anything! The versatility will always make it a go-to for me and even as fall trends change this look can easily adapt!
Jeans + Booties + Sweater
When it doubt pair it with jeans! I know I professed my love for mom jeans above. But I’m an all kinds of jeans girl at heart (I even just started dabbling in the world of straight jeans).
And every girl should have a great pair of boots and booties in their closet. I’m partial to heeled booties, but whatever you’re comfortable in works! This season a chunkier style bootie is more popular and will 100% work for any of these easy Fall outfits I’m sharing here. But my go-to will forever be a sleek, pointy toe, suede ankle bootie! They’re timeless and chic and make my legs look long.
Accessorize these outfits with hats, scarves, coats, jewelry, etc. to help them reflect your style and make them weather appropriate! But no matter what this combination is fool (& fail) proof!
Midi Skirt + Sweater + Boots
Are you sensing a pattern here? All of these easy fall outfits are made with the same few items:
- Sweaters
- Jeans
- Boots (knee high or over the knee & booties)
- Skirts
- Dresses
If you have a few pieces from each of those categories you’ll be SET when it comes to fall fashion and getting dressed in the morning should be simple!
Long Cardigan + Anything
Last, but not least the unwritten rule that when you throw a long cardigan on top of anything it isn’t making it an outfit.
And I’m being serious, pair one with a dress, jeans, joggers, literally anything and it instantly makes it a complete look! I feel like this rule also applies to oversized blazers. I’m just personally more of a cardigan girl than a blazer girl.
I have quite the collection of long cardigans in my wardrobe. And they are always on heavy rotation this time of year.
These might be all more professional photos that I’ve taken through the years, but my phone is filled with iPhone mirror snaps of outfits that I create and like too. So that next time I’m standing in front of my closet with nothing to where I can open up my “Outfits” album and scroll find an easy Fall outfit I’ve worn in the past and throw that on!
I highly suggest doing the same if you’re a procrastinator and wait until the very last minute to get dressed before going out. Start snapping photos of outfits you like on yourself and saving easy fall outfits you like on Instagram and Pinterest!
