Let’s talk RUGS…specifically all the rugs I have in my apartment!
In case this is your first time finding me, my apartment is a 750 SF New York Apartment (get the whole tour here) with an open concept Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen/Office Nook and a separate bathroom and bedroom. So as with most open floor plan apartments I strategically use furniture and rugs to create separate areas in a larger space. While the square footage of my apartment is not a lot, the open concept makes it seem much larger than it actually is. And the placement of furniture creates a flow that makes it perfectly mine.
Now let’s talk rugs more specifically (since that IS what this post is about)…
SHOP All of the Rugs I Have in my House
I haven’t done a full blog post about my living room redesign yet. But I have given you a few peeks of my new rug and sofa on Instagram. While I loved my old rug, it just didn’t mesh with the vibe I was going for once I finished decorating. And I’m SO incredibly happy with how the whole space looks now. I never really shared photos of my living room I thought because I couldn’t get it to photograph properly. (I have really crappy lighting in my entire apartment, but especially this space.) But now that it’s redesigned I realized it’s because it just wasn’t “right”.
Now onto my bedroom…
When I first moved into my apartment I thought I was going to put the white and gray zebra rug I had in my old apartment in my bedroom. But once I got it into this space it looked too yellow and I wanted a pattern that was a little more antique. This ivory floral ornament rug ended up working in the space more perfectly than I could have ever imagined. It keeps with the overall feminine vibe I wanted. And the pattern is subtle enough that it doesn’t compete with my floral mural wallpaper.
And finally the kitchen…
I looked for a kitchen runner for what seems like forever before finally settling on this navy oriental one! I originally wanted it because it brought the colors from my old living room rug into my kitchen, but once I decided I wanted to replace my living room rug I used this runner to inspire my choice for the new one. Laying down this runner in my kitchen really made that entire side of the room come together and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. It warmed up the space immediately and made it feel more like a home.
I also really want to put an animal rug near my desk, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet and haven’t found the perfect one! So stay tuned to see if I ever find it!
