I did it! After months of looking and paperwork and waiting I’m officially a homeowner! It’s been so hard to keep this a secret for so long, but I’m so glad I did! I closed this week and now the fun starts…the renovation!
I bought a one bedroom co-op apartment in Westchester County, NY! It’s super close to the train, two blocks from the town, has a gym and a pool, and most importantly in Westchester…it has PARKING! Deciding on what I wanted to buy was hard, but ultimately I’m so happy I went this route. As a single girl I wasn’t quite ready to buy a house, and while I initially thought I would buy a two bedroom unit or a junior four (a one bedroom with an office), I just couldn’t find anything I really loved.
After looking for a while I decided that buying a unit that was in need of a complete renovation was the best option for me. Something you may not know about me is that I work for a construction company, my family renovates and builds homes in Westchester and in the Hamptons, my stepdad is an architect and my mom is an interior decorator…so in short I’m surrounded by beautiful homes in every aspect of my life and I was ready to create my own!
I’m redesigning and renovating this entire unit, so you know I HAD to share my apartment before photos before the process starts. From the kitchen to the bathroom to the walls (one is coming down) to the closets to the ceiling to the floors…you get the picture! And then when that’s all done I get to decorate it! Every single aspect of this apartment will be mine and I’m SO excited about the journey.
I’m THE MOST INDECISIVE PERSON EVER so the next two months is definitely going to be super stressful, but all worth it in the end! I’ve already picked out a lot of stuff that I’ll be sharing with you on Instagram stories and here on the blog over the next few weeks, but in the meantime I wanted to give you a peek at my apartment before photos. I also just posted a video tour on my Instagram stories (I also added a home reno highlight to my profile!). So let me know what you guys think and what you want posts about! I’m planning on a few inspirational posts that helped me make renovation and decoration decisions, but I also plan on doing renovation update posts and specific posts about designing my kitchen and bathroom!
AHH so excited to take you on this journey, so without further ado, here are the ((cringeworthy)) apartment before photos!
In the meantime, check out some of my past Home Decor posts that have inspired my renovation!
