Affordable H&M Winter Capsule Wardrobe

BACK with another Affordable H&M Capsule Wardrobe…this time it’s a WINTER Capsule Wardrobe! This one is much more casual than my Fall & Summer Capsule Wardrobes because let’s be serious…we’re all pretty much living in loungewear…even more than the past few seasons because it’s just too cold to go anywhere. But don’t worry when you have to leave the house I’ve got you covered!

So as always I included a variety of outfits – some work-appropriate if in the office, PLENTY work from home appropriate that are put together on top. And also more casual on bottom, lots of outfit ideas with jeans AND LOTS of loungewear looks that are comfy and cozy but you can still go out in.

I picked 25 pieces including three coats, LOTS of sweaters, boots, knit pants and more! I’m sure plenty of this stuff you guys already have similar items in your closet. But H&M‘s price point is so amazing that you won’t mind picking up an item or two if you’re missing anything. I’m also LOVING the color palette I chose for this Winter Capsule Wardrobe. It’s filled with warm neutrals and basic blacks with a sprinkle of subtle pops of color, lots of cozy texture and of course a couple prints. I think no matter what your style is, this winter capsule wardrobe will give you plenty of outfit ideas this season.

I have a lot of fun creating these capsule wardrobes and so far H&M has been the best retailer to use because they have great prices, a variety of sizes. And I love the clothes, but if you’d like me to make one using a different store let me know!!

H&M Winter Capsule Wardrobe Items:

1. Oversized Ruffle Trimmed Blouse ($24.99)

The “going out” top is back and if I never thought I’d be excited about it. But the 2025 version of the “going out” top is much more sophisticated than the 2007 one. And this ruffle trimmed blouse is exactly the type of top you should be reaching for to wear this your jeans this winter. It’s also available in white.

2. Fitted Cardigan ($14.99)

Tighter fitting cardigans are one of my favorite trendy, but still classic Winter staples. I’ve actually been reaching for them more often that my standard sweaters lately because I love that they can be worn completely buttoned up, with just a few buttons open (either on the top or bottom or both) or completely open with a shirt underneath and if you’re building a capsule wardrobe then you know that a versatile item like this is key!

3. Twill Resort Shirt ($29.99)

This black and white printed button up shirt (and the matching wide leg pants) was one of the first items that caught my eye in the H&M new arrivals section and I knew it needed to be added to my Winter capsule wardrobe. While it’s not necessarily a “winter” item it could definitely worn during any season (and also could be considered resort wear).

4. Fit Knit Cardigan ($39.99)

This cream fit knit cardigan is one of the most luxe items I’ve ever seen at H&M, the color and style are perfect and I can imagine wearing it a TON this season and into early Spring.

5. Fine Knit Sweater with Collar ($39.99)

This dark brown sweater is another piece from the H&M fine knit collection and I can’t get over how luxe it is. This top is part of a set that could easily sell for triple the price at another retailer and I can’t recommend it enough especially if you’re vibe is elevated loungewear this is definitely for you.

6. Rib Knit Cardigan ($34.99)

Cardigans are having a moment and this green one with gold buttons looks luxe and is calling my name. It can be dressed up or dressed down, worn open or closed and perfect for this time of year. If you’re looking for a more neutral color this one also comes in black, cream or blue !

But what really sold me on this this one was the bright green color!

7. Wide Regular Jeans ($44.99)

H&M jeans are some of my favorite and these wide leg jeans are one of my favorites! This medium wash is always on heavy rotation in my wardrobe.

8. Loose Fit Twill Pants ($29.99)

Including a matching printed set that could be dressed up or dressed down in this Winter capsule wardrobe was important to me because wearing both or one of these items is such a great way to get out of a Winter style rut! Plus these feel like pajamas, but look so chic!

9. Wide Leg Dress Pants ($34.99)

I’ve been REALLY into the wide leg silhouette lately and black pair is a great option if you’re looking to add a pair into your closet! They’re pretty inexpensive and they can easily be worn to work or “dressed up”, but can also be worn with sneakers. I also love the slightly cropped silhouette.

10. Fine Knit Pants ($39.99)

Because loungewear and athleisure just hits different in the winter! But when I wear it I still want to look put together and these fine knit pants that have a super cute matching top will definitely make you look polished, but keep you comfy!

11. Teddy Fleece Jacket ($54.00)

We have been experiencing some of the coldest temperatures in years here in New York and I’m also grabbing my coziest jackets and this fleece teddy coat looks so cozy!

12. Tie Detail Felted Coat ($69.99)

It’s crazy to me the amount of people that don’t have appropriate coats to wear with more dressed up outfits, especially when there are inexpensive and chic coats like this one out there! This would complement any dressier outfit you plan on wearing this Winter.

13. Handmade Wool Blend Coat ($199.99)

Looking for the MOST CLASSIC winter coat of all time? Look no further than the timeless calf length coat. This will never go out of style and is also a piece of clothing you will never regret buying.

14. Maxi Skirt ($34.99)

It should be absolutely not surprise to any of your that I’m including a slip skirt in this capsule wardrobe after seeing one in my Fall capsule and holiday capsule wardrobe. They are SO versatile and chic and a closet staple in my opinion.

15. Mock Turtleneck Maxi Dress ($24.99)

I love a sleek maxi dress in the winter and this stretch mock neck one is super chic and affordable!

16. Braided Ballet Flats ($39.99)

It’s taken me a long time to take a liking to the ballet flat trend again, but I’m finally there and this braided gold Mary Jane pair goes with almost every outfit in this capsule wardrobe.

17. Heeled Leather Ankle Boots ($149.99)

I opted to include an ankle boot over a pump because they are just so much more practical and just as chic.

18. Sneakers ($34.99)

I love the slightly sporty feel of these sneakers with gum soles!

19. Chelsea Boots ($34.99)

Chelsea boots has been a staple in my closet for a few years now, they go with everything from leggings to dresses and they are extremely practical in bad weather!

20. Warm Lined Boots ($24.99)

These “ugg” style boots are having a MOMENT this season and I’m loving them! You guys know I’ve been obsessed with the platform pair I got a few months ago, they are so functional and keep me so warm!

21. Sweatshirt ($24.99)

Just like H&M basics, H&M sweatshirts are also my favorite! They’re so soft, just the right relaxed fit and very affordable! I loved this Paris printed one!

22. Rib Knit Beanie ($17.99)

This soft knit hat is the perfect neutral accessory to all the winter outfit ideas I put together.

23. Chain Necklace ($17.99)

I love necklaces like this because they are something I can wear with literally every outfit, casual or dressed up.

24. Crossbody Bag ($32.99)

What drew me to this shopper was the chocolate brown color and suede material, but it’s also the perfect Winter bag! It’ll keep you hands free and the shape is so interesting.

25. Crossbody Bag ($34.99)

The smooth faux leather and simple style on this crossbody bag makes it look much more expensive that it is! I will always tell everyone that if you’re going to buy an inexpensive purse choose a simple one! It is instantly more elevated than one with a lot of embellishments!
