I know I know…you guys have seen my finished bathroom before, BUT so many people have loved the before and after renovation posts of all the different rooms in my apartment so I figured I’d have to finish up with the last room that underwent a major renovation so you can see all the pictures in one place.
This may be the tiniest room, but I think it actually had the biggest transformation. When you scroll through the photos you’ll see what I mean. So I hope you enjoy this transformation from this bland beige bathroom to my chic black & white bathroom!
Before
When I bought my apartment most people commented saying the bathroom “wasn’t that bad”. They were right, it wasn’t that bad, the previous owner definitely renovated before putting it on the market, BUT the tile was awful and outdated, the vanity was WAY TOO LARGE and I wanted a deeper tub. ALSO if I was going to renovate essentially every other aspect of my apartment why wouldn’t I do the bathroom too. Once I moved in it would be hard to go back and renovate the bathroom if I ever decided to, so it just made sense to do it before.
Step 1
TAKE EVERYTHING OUT! And by everything, I mean everything. We didn’t keep ANYTHING in the original bathroom!
Step 2
First we framed down the ceiling over the shower area for my fan (& light and bluetooth speaker!), then we installed my deeper tub. Initially we were could to just reglaze the existing tub, but realized how shallow it was so I got a new, much deeper, one!
Step 3
The entire bathroom was sheetrocked! Nothing too exciting!
Step 4
Next up, installing my tile floor! This was literally the FIRST THING I picked out in my entire apartment! I’ve loved this tile pattern for years and I couldn’t wait to put it in my bathroom! It’s beautiful and I can’t recommend it. And went with white grout for the floor!
Then large subway tile for the walls – floor to ceiling! I figured by tiling the entire bathroom it would be easier to clean…I was right! I went with black grout for the wall tile!
Step 5
Grout complete – I went with white for the floor and black for the walls like I mentioned above! And all the fixtures got installed. Obviously decided on Champagne Bronze fixtures and couldn’t be happier with the decision. Also can’t believe how well they matched my antique mirror!
Vanity, sink & toilet also installed! For a small space it certainly does have a lot of character!
After
Obsessed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about how my bathroom renovation turned out! It’s exactly how I pictured it! And the best part is that if I decided to sell, essentially it’s a black, white and gold bathroom when you take away the bold shower curtain so it’s very marketable and sellable!
