This may come as no surprise to you, but I’m a bit of a beauty junkie. I receive a ton of beauty products from brands and PR companies, and I buy even more for myself. I love trying new products, but not all of them always work for me. I’ve gotten pretty good about sharing and talking about my favorite beauty products on social media, especially Instagram stories, but I thought I would start a new monthly series where I would share my top beauty essentials from the month, so without further ado here are my January Beauty Essentials…
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo $22 – If you didn’t know I’m am a dry shampoo fanatic. I refuse to wash my hair more than two or three times a week, but sometimes by day three my hair needs a little refresher. I’ve tried dozens of different types of dry shampoo, but this one from Amika works best for me. You don’t need a lot to get the job done, it doesn’t make my hair feel sticky (it actually makes your hair feel clean!), and it smells amazing! I always up for testing our new brands of dry shampoo because you can’t find your new favorite without trying something new, but for the past year or so I always find myself coming back to this one.
Derma-E Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid $29.50 – I’ve been using derma-e products for well over a year and have been always been a huge fan (see more of my derma-e reviews here). All of they’re products are all natural, vegan and paraben-free and they work really well. Derma-e recently sent over their new Hydrating Serum and I’ve used it every morning since. I love that it’s light and really brightens up my skin, it’s not hydrating enough for me, but I apply it before my moisturizer every morning and I’ve really seen a difference.
First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer $28 – First Aid Beauty recently sent me their entire new Hello Fab line and I’m obsessed. I apply this Coconut Priming Moisturizer every day as my moisturizer over derma’e’s Hydrating Serum and before my foundation. It’s a moisturizer and primer in one and really helps keep your skin moisturized all while helping your makeup stay put. It doesn’t hurt that this stuff smells amazing too!
Julep It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Ooh La La $20 – Matte liquid lipstick may be all the rage thanks to Kylie Jenner, but Julep makes my favorite lip mousse and this sephia taupe shade is my favorite color! I’ve had it for well over a year and I go through phases of wearing it pretty much every day and forgetting that I have it. After a bold lip filled Holiday season I’ve been reaching for more neutral lip colors as of late and this nude shade has definitely become one of my January beauty essentials. My favorite part about these lip mousses is that once you apply them they don’t budge, and coming from the girl that always ends up with lipstick on her teeth this is a huge plus! Check out what I look like wearing it here!
First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Vital Greens Face Mist $18 – Another First Aid Beauty product to make my list of January beauty essentials is their new vital greens face mist! I’ve always been a big fan of face mists because I love that they can instantly refresh your makeup with a few sprays throughout the day. I find myself using this one when I’m done with my makeup in the morning so my face doesn’t look too cakey, then I throw it in my bag in case I need a refresher during the day.
Darphin Age Defying Dermabrasion $80 – At $80 a pop this may be the most expensive product on my January beauty essentials list, but it’s 100% worth the price tag. I finished it last week and I’m looking forward to picking up another container. As someone who has rather large pores on my nose, it’s recommended that I get regular microdermabrasion done to make my pores look smaller, but honestly I just can’t afford that and instead opt for bi-yearly facials and daily exfoliation at home. I’ve used tons of different exfoliators, but none have worked as well as this. It removed dead skin, evened out my skin tone and left my face feeling as soft as can be without irritating it.
bareMinerals GEN NUDE Radiant Lipstick in Tutu $20 – This month when I wasn’t wearing Julep’s Ooh La La, I was wearing this bareMinerals nude lipstick in Tutu! This is by far my favorite bareMinerals product and this pinky mauve shade is perfect for me when I want that “no makeup” make-up look! Check out what I look like wearing it here!
bliss Fabulous Drench N’ Quench Cream to Water Lock in Moisturizer $38 – I don’t know what I would do without this moisturizer! I used it all summer and fall and now I’m on my second container and have used it all winter. I really dislike thick face creams, but I need the hydration they offer, especially in the winter. This cream to water moisturizer is light and refreshing and gives my skin all the hydration it needs without feeling heavy. I suggest working it into your skin for about 30 seconds or so for the best results.
Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara $8.49 – You might have read my rave review of this new Maybelline mascara two weeks ago, but I’m here to tell you about it again! I’m very picky about mascara and I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to picking out the best formula for them, but you need to give this drugstore option a try, you won’t regret it.
First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Caffeine Matcha Wake Up Wipes $15 – These caffeine wake up wipes are pretty much the greatest invention ever! I don’t like to wash my face in the morning, it’s unnecessary if you have dry skin, but I used to like to splash some water on it to wake it up. No need to do that now, instead I’ve been wiping my face with one of these caffeine match wake up wipes to remove overnight oil and revive my skin before applying moisturizer and makeup. I love the way my skin feels after I use them!
Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub $9.99 – Like I mentioned above I have fairly large pores and a good about of black heads on my nose and chin that need constantly treatment. This baking soda cleansing scrub really cleans my skin while exfoliating. I love that I can customize the amount of exfoliation by the amount of water I use when creating the exfoliating paste. This baking soda cleanser makes your skin feel tingly and so clean too. Read my full review here.
Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser $6.99 – I’ve tried tons of facial cleansers, but nothing works quite as well on my skin as this one! I use it every night to remove all of my makeup and cleanse my skin. I love that I don’t have to scrub too hard and irritate my skin to get rid of all my makeup, just a little bit of suds and a quick rinse and I’m done.
Sally Hershberger 24K Liquid Assets Daily Conditioning Remedy $32 – 9 out of 10 times I wash my hair I let it air dry and don’t like to put too much product in it, but I do need a little bit of product to tame it. This spray leave in conditioner works like magic and leaves my hair smelling great and super hydrated. I spray it evenly in my damp hair and by the time it’s dry it looks ready to go!
Now that you’ve read all about my January Beauty Essentials I’d love to hear what products you’re currently loving!! You can shop all of these products by clicking on their names above or right here.
