So I’ve officially shared Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Capsule Wardrobes and today I’m sharing a Holiday Capsule Wardrobe! The holiday season can look a little different for everyone, BUT there are definitely holiday favorites and timeless pieces that you can keep in your closet to make putting together outfit options for holiday occasions WAY easier!

Holiday Capsule Wardrobe
In case you don’t know a capsule wardrobe is a selection of interchangeable clothing pieces that complement each other and that can be mixed and matched with one another to create many outfit outfits. Typically I select 25 items and create 48+ outfits for my season long capsule wardrobes, but since the Holiday Season is just about 2 months long and I’m downsizing and selecting 15 pieces of clothing and creating 24 outfits. And the best part is it is filled with timeless basics, but always a few special occasion items that you might already have in your closet.
Some of the occasions I get dressed for during the holidays are Friendsgiving, Holiday office parties, tree decorating, cookie exchange, holiday shopping, Christmas markets, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve among other events.
Essential Items for your Holiday Wardrobe:
1. Mock Turtleneck Sweater ($39.99)
A cozy sweater is a must for the cold weather, but since it’s the holiday season I thought a festive green sweater in an oversized fit would be the perfect additional to this holiday capsule wardrobe! You can pair it with everything from jeans, wide-leg trousers, sequin skirts, even PJ pants! This turtleneck option fits the bill perfectly and will get you through the holidays and the rest of the Winter season. It’s also available in bunch of different colors including a bright red and a few neutrals if that’s more your style.
2. Cable Knit Sweater ($59.99)
Another essential for the holiday season is a cable-knit sweater. Even though a cable knit isn’t technically a “festive” sweater, I still consider it one. It’s weirdly nostalgic and classic and a must! I love a cream cable knit in particular, but a bright color knit is also just as fun.
3. Dress with Flared Skirt ($29.99)
A party dress is a must for any capsule wardrobe, but especially for a Holiday capsule wardrobe! Right now I’m loving a short dress with a flared skirt that can be worn alone or topped with a blazer or sweater, but I know mini dresses aren’t everyone’s favorite so if a midi or maxi dress is more your style definitely swap this for one of those!
4. Bubble Hem Strappy Top ($19.99)
A “going out” top is a staple for every season and typically my go-to is a satin tank, but when I saw this fun bubble hem strappy top I knew I needed to include it! It’s definitely a trendier item, but there are so many ways to wear it. I’m envisioning it paired with sequin pants, wide-leg trousers, baggy denim or a slip skirt. Plus it’s perfect to wear a blazer or fun jacket over.
5. Long Blazer ($54.99)
A slightly oversized classic blazer – say no more! During the holidays get more wear out of your outfits by not only adding it to your work looks but also pairing it with jeans, a matching set and even your party dresses.
6. Wide Leg Ultra High Jeans ($34.99)
For the holidays I think a classic pair of wide jeans is essential because of their versatility. In a dark wash you can dress them up or down and pair them with everything else in your capsule wardrobe seamlessly. I know wide-leg jeans aren’t everyone’s favorite and while I love the relaxed silhouette, a classic straight-leg style of jeans would work just as well.
7. Lace Trimmed Satin Skirt ($49.99)
Typically I include a festive red item in every one of my Holiday capsule wardrobes, but this year I’m loving all things burgundy. If you’re a fan of my past capsules then you know I love satin midi skirts and midi dresses, and this lace trimmed version felt like a holiday upgrade to my standard slip dress or skirt. It would look so great pairs with both a chunky sweater and boots, a pair of stiletto heels and even a blazer and pumps for work.
8. Sequined Pants ($39.99)
It’s not the holidays without (at least) one sequin item! I went with this bronze sequin pants because you can dress them up with an equally fancy top or dress them down with a chunky sweater, t-shirt or oversized button-up shirt.
9. Crinkle Pull On Pants ($29.99)
I don’t know about you, but a lot of my holiday activities involve eating lots of food and hanging with friends or family, and while I want to be dressed up during those occasions I also want to be comfortable! So these crinkle pull on pants with an elastic waist are PERFECT for that. They look equally as good with an oversized sweater on the couch as they do with a party top and high heels while out to dinner with friends.
10. Fluffy Coat ($59.99)
Any cold weather capsule wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a coat. This fluffy faux fur coat is enough of a statement, but still a classic piece and it pairs perfectly with everything from sequins and heels to jeans and combat boots!
11. Embellished Clutch Bag ($49.99)
This is the perfect bag for all holiday activities! I love the trendy shape and the embellishments and it would be perfect for all your dressed up and dressed down holiday outfits. Plus it’s a little more practical than a small clutch.
12. Hammered Pendant Earrings ($14.99)
Another one that requires no explanation! Party earrings like these gold hammered ones instantly take any basic outfit and make it elevated!
13. Viscose Blend Pajamas ($39.99)
No need to explain this one! Everyone needs a pair (or 8) of cute pajamas in their closet!
14. Embellished Flats ($39.99)
Ballet flats are a classic piece in everyone’s wardrobe, but these embellished flats will make any simple outfit holiday ready.
15. Bow-Detail Satin Pumps ($44.99)
I usually include a more classic pump in my Capsule Wardrobes, but these bow satin pumps were calling my name and surprisingly they’re pretty versatile! Scroll through to see how many outfits I created with them!
