So I’ve officially shared Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Capsule Wardrobes and today I’m sharing a Holiday Capsule Wardrobe! The holiday season can look a little different for everyone, BUT there are definitely essential items that you can keep in your closet to make dressing for holiday occasions WAY easier!

Holiday Capsule Wardrobe
In case you don’t know a capsule wardrobe is a selection of interchangeable clothing pieces that complement each other and that can be mixed and matched with one another to create many outfits. Typically I select 26 items and create 48+ outfits for my season long capsule wardrobes, but since the Holiday Season is just about 2 months long and I’m downsizing and selecting 15 pieces of clothing and creating 24 outfits.
Some of the occasions I get dressed for during the holidays are Friendsgiving, office parties, tree decorating, cookie baking parties, holiday movie marathon, holiday shopping, ice skating, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve among other events.
Essential Items for your Holiday Wardrobe:
1. Rhinestone Trimmed Satin Top ($49.99)
The “going out” top of the early 2000s is back except now we’re calling it a “party” top and this rhinestone trimmed satin top is the perfect Holiday party top! It’s flirty and sexy, but with a high neck still appropriate for lots of occasions! And if you have no idea what I’m talking about you’re much younger than me and welcome to the new era of wearing jeans and a top to go out.
2. Light Beige Knit Sweater ($24.99)
A neutral cozy sweater is a must for the holiday season! You can pair it with everything from jeans, slip dresses, sequin skirts, even PJ pants! This knit option fits the bill perfectly and will get you through the holidays and the rest of the Winter season.
3. Red Rib-Knit Cardigan ($34.99)
Another essential for the holiday season is a festive sweater. And I’m not talking about an ugly Christmas sweater (though those are amazing and you should probably have one), but just a festive color sweater that can easily make any outfit a “holiday” outfit. I picked up a similar chunky red cardigan to this last year and got so much use out of it.
4. Ribbed Mock Turtleneck Sweater ($29.99)
A thin turtleneck sweater is perfect for layering under or other clothing and mixing and matching tons of other items in your wardrobe.
5. Double Breasted Jacket ($49.99)
A slightly oversized classic blazer – say no more! During the holidays get more wear out of your outfits by not only adding it to your work looks but also pairing it with jeans and even your party dresses.
6. High Waist Jeggings ($19.99)
Now I know that jeggings and skinny jeans aren’t necessarily “in”, but for the holidays I think a classic pair of skinny jeans is essential because of their versatility. In a dark wash you can dress them up or down and pair them with everything else in your capsule wardrobe seamlessly.
7. Satin Slip Dress ($49.99)
Another classic piece (are you sensing a pattern now?) – I can’t imagine a time or occasion where a slip dress isn’t appropriate!
8. Calf Length Sequined Skirt ($34.99)
It’s not the holidays without (at least) one sequin item! I went with a skirt because you can dress it up with an equally fancy top or dress it down with a chunky sweater!
9. Plaid Pajamas ($39.99)
No need to explain this one! Everyone needs a pair (or 8) of festive pajamas in their closet!
10. Beige Wool Blend Coat ($149.00)
Any cold weather capsule wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a coat. This wool one is unique because it’s just the right amount of oversized, pairs perfectly with everything from sequins and heels to jeans and combat boots and it has a scarf attached to it.
11. Quilted Shoulder Bag ($39.99)
If you bought this chic quilted shoulder bag when I included it in my Fall Capsule Wardrobe then you’re ahead of the game! This is the perfect bag and it would be perfect for all your dressed up and dressed down holiday outfits.
12. Long Rhinestone Earrings ($12.99)
Another one that requires no explanation! Party earrings like this long rhinestone ones instantly take any basic outfit and make it elevated!
13. Faux Fur Slippers ($24.99)
If you don’t have faux fur slippers put them on your Christmas list! It’s safe to say that I spend more time in slippers than in real shoes during the holidays and you should too!
14. Chunky Combat Boots ($39.99)
Another item I borrowed from my Fall Capsule wardrobe because they’re comfortable, durable, practical and look cute.
15. Black Pumps ($34.99)
I loved the fun heel on these black pumps, but any party heel will do! If you live in a warmer climate maybe you’ll want to opt for an open toe or sandal!
