Let’s talk Holiday makeup…more specifically holiday eye makeup ideas that you can recreate!
If you’ve been following me for a while then you know that I love a good glam makeup look during the holiday season. I THRIVE when I’m rocking shimmery eyeshadow and red lipstick and gold glitter, but I know that it’s not for everyone and I know that for some people they love festive looks on other people, but aren’t quite sure how to wear them themselves.
Great makeup and specifically great eye makeup is truly a way to stand out in a crowd, and since your eyes are usually the first thing someone notices about you, amazing eye makeup is a great way to grab their attention.
From subtle and simple to full out GLAM and festive I’ve got a holiday eye makeup idea (or 5) for everyone and every occasion!
Holiday Eye Makeup Ideas
Metallic Green Cat Eye
I don’t know if green eye makeup is having a moment or if it’s just a favorite of mine, but I can’t stop creating holiday eye makeup looks with green eyeliner and eye shadow! This metallic green Hard Candy eyeliner is a current favorite and when it’s paired with subtle lashes and rosy cheeks and lips it’s holiday perfect! Glossy Neutral Eye Shadow
Aren’t into glam makeup (or really makeup at all), but want to step up your daily look during the holidays? Try this glossy neutral eye shadow look! It’s subtle, but the slightly shimmery eyeshadow paired with clean skin, a glossy highlighter and shiny pink lip gloss is definitely statement making. Get the look with this Winky Lux Coffee Kitten Palette.
Lime Green Eye Shadow
While lime green isn’t a standard festive color when it’s a little shimmery and paired with flush cheeks and glossy lips it becomes the perfect holiday eye makeup look!
Just Mascara
Are you more of a red lipstick girl? Keep your face makeup simple and more on the matte side, then curl your natural lashes and apply 3 coats of your favorite lengthening mascara for a clean look (I love layering 2 coats of this mascara with 1 coat of this volumizing mascara).
Smudged Brown Eyeliner
Not into a completely bare lid paired with red lips? Try a nude eyeshadow and a barely there smudged brown eyeliner just on the outer corners of your eyes.
Shimmery Gold Eye Shadow
My go-to “simple” Holiday makeup look is a shimmery gold eye shadow paired with lots of mascara, highlighted cheeks and a nude pink glossy lip! I’ve worn this look more times then I can count during the holidays and beyond and I truly think it’s a look anyone can recreate no matter what your skill level is. Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Fuchsia Eye Shadow
A fuchsia shimmery eye shadow paired with lots of black eyeliner and multiple coats of mascara is edgy and sexy, but still holiday perfect! I love this look with a matching satin finish lip!
Nude Eye Shadow & False Lashes
Who doesn’t love flirty lashes and red lipstick? Let these falsies shine by keeping the rest of your eye makeup simple and only adding a little bit of smudged black eyeliner on the outer corner of your eyes to help the lashes blend easier. There are my favorite wispies that would be perfect for this look.
Gold Glitter Eye Shadow
Looking for the perfect makeup look for that NYE or Holiday party you’re attending look no further than this gold glitter makeup look! I love how the artist paired this party ready eye with glowing bronze skin and a matte wine lip, they both really compliment the glitter while also letting it stand out.
Green Glitter Eyeshadow
This chunky green glitter is probably the most fun makeup look I’ve seen in a LONG time! It makes sense that Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, is who wore it!
Brown & Bronze Eye Makeup
A chocolatey smokey eye is a great way to dip your toes in the world of smokey eyeshadow. A great eyeshadow palette to create this look is tarte In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette, it has a great mix of shimmer and matte warmed toned colors that are universally flattering. Shimmery Inner Corner Highlight
I’m such a sucker for a perfect winged liner and this clean look is exactly what I consider perfect! I also love the extra shimmery inner corner highlight, this silver glitter liquid shadow is perfect to achieve this look.
Dramatic Cat Eye
When I was younger a dramatic cat eye with the blackest black liquid eyeliner (this is my favorite high end one & this is my favorite drugstore liquid liner), was my signature look. Since them I’ve ventured out a little, but I’ll never give it up! Watch the video tutorial of this look HERE!
Pop of Color on Waterline
This look is so incredibly pretty, but the unexpected pop of color on her waterline makes it even more special. This periwinkle color is so fun, but also teal, emerald and navy would work perfectly.
Shimmery Bronze Shadow
There’s a fine line between shimmer and glitter and this skirts right on that line. This Patrick Ta Eyeshadow Palette has a lot of great iridescent metallic shadows that would be perfect to recreate this look on yourself. Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Colored Eyeliner
Looking for a more eclectic holiday eye makeup idea? What about colored eyeliner! This bright fuchsia is striking and gorgeous, but any metallic jewel toned shade would be perfect. My favorite pencil eyeliner to recreate this look is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil – it comes in over 30 fun shades.
Chunky Silver Glitter Eye
I never thought I’d use the words silver glitter and minimal to describe the same makeup look, but somehow this is both! It’s ethereal and soft and so pretty!
Bronze Smokey Eye
A little smokey and a little bit of subtle sparkle is the perfect combination for a Holiday makeup look! Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Burgundy Eyeshadow
Who would’ve thought matching your eyeshadow to your burgundy lipstick could create such a fun look! While this eye makeup might not be for everyone it’s fun to switch it up every once and a while! Try Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eye Shadow in Rapture to recreate this look.
Smudged Cat Eye
To recreate this “lived in” cat eye look use a black pencil eyeliner for your cat eye then take a smudging brush and a little bit of black eyeshadow and smudge the liner into your lash lines. Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Gilded Gold Dramatic Eye Makeup
But seriously is there anything better than metallic gold eyeshadow? I think not and this gilded gold dramatic eye is luxe and striking and so perfect! When you have this dramatic of an eye I suggest pairing it with nude lips so it doesn’t have anything to compete with!
Teal Green Smoky Eye
Sign me up for all the colorful eyeshadow! This teal shade is so pretty and will compliment any and all eye colors! Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Golden Goddess Dramatic Eye
Usually I would tell you to either highlight your eyes OR your lips, but sometimes you just have to go for it and make them both the focal point of your look!
Monochromatic Pink Makeup
Monochromatic makeup is my favorite and this soft pink look might just be my favorite monochromatic look I’ve personally every created! I really love how the eye and lip play off each other. Recreate this lip with my favorite – bareMinerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick in Strawberry! Watch the video tutorial of this look HERE!
Monochromatic Red Makeup
Another monochromatic look, but this time RED! Red eyeshadow might sound scary, but when it’s just a subtle wash it’s festive and compliments a dark red lip perfectly! Watch my video tutorial to recreate this look on yourself HERE!
Matte Fuchsia Eyeshadow
Looking to dip your toes in the world of colorful eyeshadow? Try a matte shade and keep the rest of your face clean and simple! This palette has great pink shades!
Gold Glitter Eye Shadow
You can’t have a list of Holiday eye makeup ideas without some gold glitter eye shadow!! It’s epic and will never go out of style! Watch the video tutorial for this look HERE!
Purple & Charcoal Smokey Eye
I always lean more towards warm makeup looks, but I do appreciate a good icy purple and charcoal eye makeup look! Recreate this look with stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten Karma. Watch this tutorial HERE!
Gunmetal Gray Smokey Eye
While I love a black smokey eye, a gunmental gray/charcoal smokey eye is so much easier to wear! This cool gray and silver eyeshadow palette is perfect to recreate this look!
Red Eyeshadow & Glossy Lips
Who else loves liquid lipstick? I know this is technically a post about holiday eye makeup ideas, but no holiday look is complete with a lip and super glossy liquid lipstick is a must in my makeup bag!
Jewel Toned Green Eyeshadow
You can never go wrong with jewel toned makeup shades! This deep green shadow pairs perfectly with a glossy wine color lip!
Shimmery Gold & Burgundy Eyes
In LOVE with this shimmery gold and burgundy smoky eye! This eyeshadow palette has a great mix of rose shadows to recreate this look!
Burgundy Eyeliner
Move over black and brown eyeliner, the holidays are calling for burgundy eyeliner this year! Make it pop by lining your eyes with black then line over that with burgundy.
Iridescent Emerald Eye
There is nothing more festive than an iridescent emerald eye makeup look! I’m a sucker for emerald eyeshadow and this is the best I’ve ever seen. Pair it with bronze cheeks, nude glossy lips and sparkly earrings for your New Year’s Even bash!
Pink Smokey Eye
I’ve never seen an eye makeup look that is both illuminating and smokey at the same time, but this pink smokey eye is just that! I love the heavy rose gold undereye too!
